30 years of building software for property

A look back at three decades of Brightfox — and what comes next.

Since 1996, Brightfox has built specialised software for the property industry — long before "digital buyer experience" was even a phrase. What began as one of the first purpose-built CRMs for apartment developers has grown into today's connected suite of CRM, Sales Portal, display-suite apps and Client Portal, used by developers, project marketers and agents across Australia.

Three decades is a long time in technology — and in property. The reason our software is still relied on every day isn't that it has stayed the same. It's that it hasn't. Every one of our products has been continually enhanced to keep pace with changing market conditions, shifting buyer behaviour, and the evolving sales and marketing strategies of the developers who use it.

Built for the market as it actually is

The way property sells has changed enormously since 1996 — and so have our apps. As buyers moved online, we rebuilt the sales journey around live, always-available information: real-time stock and pricing in the Sales Portal, interactive masterplans and floorplans in our display-suite apps, and a Client Portal that keeps purchasers informed right through to settlement.

When the market sped up and teams became more distributed, we connected everything — an industry-leading API tying the CRM to websites, portals, display suites and contract processing, so a hold placed in one office is visible everywhere instantly. When remote selling became essential, our display apps were extended to work just as well online as on a touchscreen in the suite.

Evolving with buyer trends

Today's buyers expect a polished, immediate and self-directed experience — and our products have been shaped around exactly that. Interactive level selectors and floorplan comparers let buyers explore a building the way they think about it. Colour-scheme selectors, video galleries and location explorers answer the lifestyle questions that drive modern purchasing decisions. And digital contract execution through DocuSign means a sale can be completed the moment a buyer is ready, wherever they are.

Behind the scenes, integrations with the tools developers already rely on — realestate.com.au, Mailchimp, Klaviyo and more — keep marketing sharp and every lead accounted for, while business-intelligence reporting gives management the real-time picture they need to adapt quickly.

Beyond property: fleet & asset management

Three decades of building software for property taught us how to design systems that track high-value assets, manage complex workflows and surface the right information in real time — and those same foundations now power a product well beyond the property world. Brightfox also designs and delivers a fleet management solution for the automotive and heavy machinery and equipment industries.

It's a single platform for tracking assets and vehicles, scheduling servicing and monitoring utilisation — giving operators the same live visibility and control our property clients rely on, applied to the demands of running a modern fleet. It's a natural extension of who we are: specialists in software that keeps valuable assets moving.

What comes next

Our commitment for the next decade is the same one that got us here: keep listening to the market, and keep evolving the software to match it. As buyer expectations, sales strategies and technology continue to shift, Brightfox will keep enhancing our apps so the teams who use them are always a step ahead — not catching up.

Thirty years on, we're still doing what we've always done — building specialised software for property, and refining it relentlessly for the way the industry sells today.
