What's new in BrightfoxCRM: Release Notes July 2026

BrightfoxCRM 6.15.0 brings an enhanced Contacts and Listings imports process — smarter and simpler to follow, from start to finish. Storage of and access to documents has been improved, and new listing fields give you more detail to record, filter and report on.

This release focuses on the Contacts Import and Listings Import, a new Document Workspace, and a set of new CRM listing fields. Screenshots are included against several items to help show where the changes appear.

Company registration number on contacts

Company contacts now have a dedicated Company registration number field, available on the Company tab of Contact Quick Add as well as when editing the contact. It is stored against the company and displayed on the contact record, so you no longer need to keep it in a note or a custom field.

Contact importer — completely rebuilt

The contact importer has been rebuilt from the ground up. It now works the same way as the listing importer: upload your file, map your columns, check what will happen, then import — with results shown row by row as it runs.

Updated Contact Import Template

Uploads now use the updated Contact Import Template. Start from the current template so every supported field is recognised.

Choose Contacts Import from the importer's Select Task screen to begin.
The upload step works the same way for contacts — Download Our Template sits at the top before you select your file.

New and existing contacts detected for you

The importer works out which rows are new contacts and which match a contact you already have. A new Review step previews exactly what will be created and what will be updated before anything is saved, and warns you that updating overwrites the mapped columns — including blanking a value where the cell is empty.

The Review Import step summarises what will happen before anything is saved.

Default steps for new contacts

When your file needs them, a Defaults step appears where you can set Status and Category — both overridable — plus a default salesperson to assign to every new contact in the import.

Live progress and results

Imports run as a create pass followed by an update pass, with per-row results appearing as they complete — the same experience as the listing importer.

Import results show each row's status and message as it processes, with a running succeeded / failed / pending count.

Enquiry Type and longer notes

Enquiry Type can now be imported, and the contact notes field is no longer limited in length — long notes import in full.

Listing importer — completely rebuilt

The listing importer has also been rebuilt, with full column coverage, clearer validation and live progress. You no longer decide up front whether you are creating or updating listings — the importer works it out per row.

Updated Listing Import Template, downloadable in the wizard

Uploads use the updated Listing Import Template, which covers every supported column. You can download the current template directly from the upload step.

Choose Listings Import from the importer's Select Task screen to begin.
Download Our Template sits at the top of the upload step, so you can grab the current template before selecting your file.

New or update, decided per row

Each row is automatically identified as a new listing or an update to an existing one. Rows that would collide with another listing are blocked so nothing is overwritten by accident.

Property Codes generated automatically

Property Codes are generated as part of the import, including per-row codes and files that span multiple projects — resolved in a single lookup, so large files stay fast.

Defaults step for new listings

Set a default listing stage, property type, salesperson and project for the new listings in your file. Each default only applies where your file hasn't already supplied a value, and a project default links every new listing without a project to that project.

Clearer validation before you import

Every row is checked against your reference lists. Anything that would fail is flagged as a blocking error using friendly column names, unmapped columns raise a warning rather than failing silently, and a "go to next error" button steps you straight through the problems.

Live progress and a clear result

Watch rows import as they happen, then see a summary of what succeeded and what failed at the end.

Auto-create reference data

Where a value in your file doesn't exist yet, you can choose to have the matching reference data created during the import instead of stopping to add it first.

Fewer surprises with the file itself

Empty sheets are now rejected at upload, and columns that are mapped but empty are kept rather than dropped.
